To horse-ride, dive or dance the night away. Oh, the dilemmas of vacationing in high luxury at Sandy Lane Estate in Barbados.
The time is 11am. Sunbeams warm my face as they pierce through palm leaves above me at the luxurious Sandy Lane Estate in Barbados; my temporary home during this long-anticipated vacation.
As I awake from a peaceful morning snooze by the poolside, I’m greeted by the view of cloudless blue skies above, and luscious endless green fields of a private golf course to my right. The feeling of being inside the most perfect dream made-real washes over me, enhanced by the songful chatter of exotic birds singing their chorus around this vast white villa.
"This is definitely the best way to spend a lazy morning.” I think to myself as a soft breeze from the ocean nearby kisses my cheek.
I raise a relaxed wrist, checking the time as habit instructs me, as the reality of the luxury island escape I’m living envelops me warmly, and the memories of my previous reality fade swiftly into the abyss.
If I wasn’t already lying down, the feeling of gratitude for this moment would probably knock me off my feet.
As I proceed to stroll into the luxurious kitchen at the Sandy Lane Estate in Barbados for a morning snack prepared by the house cook – which consists of plateau de fruits de mer and juicy local exotic fruits – I start to dream up the perfect day, deciding that perhaps a sunset bareback horse ride might be in order.
But then again, the housekeeper mentioned the hot weather today is an ideal excuse to partake in diving with Barbados’ exceptional under-water visibility, and breathtaking marine life.
“I’ll go diving then.” I think to myself, while fresh lobster meat melts in my mouth.
No matter the short stay I’m enjoying here in Sandy Lane, I feel my soul being revived as it’s caressed by nature at every step during my indulgent holiday in Barbados.
I wrap a white silk robe around me, as my tanned legs lead me through the crisp white decor of this spacious home. Cool tiles underfoot, refreshing me with every stride.
The doorbell rings. It’s Neah.
It skipped my mind that she’s taking me to The Cliff for afternoon cocktails – the famous restaurant near Sandy Lane Estate, with a view like no other over Barbados.
I guess that the diving will have to wait until tomorrow.
Tonight, it’s all about letting loose, dancing the night away, and intoxicating myself with feelings of freedom.
